London Boat Wedding
Sophie and Enric got married at Stoke Newington town hall, had canapes in the park, and celebrated on a steamer boat along the Thames. Those are the parts of the sum but the whole was so much more:
I sometimes need to be reminded of how great my home city is. London and it’s multi-everything, standing firm despite the recent nefarious actions of the few in the name of religion; despite the political changes instigated by the many in their sharp attempt to take control, back to the ‘good old days’.
That reminder came in the form of Sophie and Enric’s wedding. Sophie, a Scottish Rose via Brixton, and Enric a crafty craftsman from Catalonia. They were merry amongst friends on the muddy Thames, enabled by music from The Kurayoshi Beatles. A word about them: A special bunch of guys in a tribute band who were a big part of Sophie’s past – they flew in from Japan to be at their friend’s present
As Sophie eloquently puts it: “We want to have a fabulous party for and with all the people we love best, with the help of all the people we love best. It wouldn’t be happening without the support and input of a lot of people, so it’s a celebration of love and friendship really – we’ll get by with a little help from our friends. It’s an anti-Brexit love-in on a boat!”.
